Whitewood Farm has been continuosly operated in Killingworth, Connecticut since 1983 by Julie Shepard.

The property includes 27 acres and two barns that house approximately 20 horses.   

There is also a 120 by 60 foot indoor arena.

Julie provides lessons, training and 15 week courses on horse care management, as part of her services. 

She practices Holistic Horsemanship with a goal to create harmoney and balance for both the horse and rider.

Julie Shepard is a certified instructor and trainer for all levels of riding including everything from the basic introductory horsemanship lessons to high level dressage.

Lessons are available in both individual and group settings and can be on your horse or from a trained Whitewood farm horse.

Direction to the Farm


1) From Interstate 95- take exit 63 and head north on Route 81 towards Killingworth. At the rotary of Routes 80 and 81 go left or east on Route 80 for about one mile the farm is on the right.


2) From Route 9 southbound -Take exit 9, and head south or right on Route 81. Stay on route 81 for about 5 miles until you reach the rotary of Routes 80 and 81. Go around the rotary and head left/east on Route 80. Go about one mile on Route 80 and the farm is on the right.
